West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative

West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative is a fully mutual housing co-operative with charitable status and is based in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

The Co-operative was formed in March 1989 and registered with Scottish Homes following the successful transfer of stock from Glasgow City Council under Large Scale Voluntary Transfer arrangements.

The Co-operative owns 644 residential properties and 110 lock-up garages. The stock types are multi storey flats, tenement flats and terraced and semi detached houses.

West Whitlawburn Housing Co-operative will provide high quality housing at rents that people in housing need can afford, and will regenerate the physical, social and economic structure of West Whitlawburn. In doing so, the Co-operative will work innovatively and in partnership with other organisations to achieve the highest quality of accommodation and service whilst remaining committed to community and environmental sustainability.

In addition to our landlord services, the Co-operative aims to meet the social, educational and recreational needs of our tenants through a programme of community activities delivered by the Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre.

We have been successful in meeting these objectives, largely due to the hard work and commitment of our voluntary Management Committee and to the dedication of our staff.

The Co-operative enjoys an outstanding reputation within the Voluntary Housing Movement in terms of performance and innovation.
